Did you know, our timber framed roof lantern can accommodate pendant lighting up to 25kg as standard? Each roof lantern is thoughtfully designed with integral conduit channels to keep all electrical cabling hidden. Some customers prefer a large, single light suspended from the centre of the ridge; others two smaller lights at either end of the ridge - or perhaps even three if the length of the ridge allows.
Light fittings are naturally positioned at either end of the ridge and specifically, at the hip rafter meeting points. These points are known as the ‘boss’ - an octagonal detail with a 110mm diameter. In this instance, the standard decorative pendant would be swapped for a 140mm circular flat plate which serves as the perfect base for lighting.
If there are plans for a very large or heavy chandelier, we can incorporate integral, hidden steel work into the timber rafters. We have been known to build a roof lantern to accommodate a 500kg chandelier! Anything is possible!
