Options: Ornamentation
It is sometimes appropriate to mount a roof lantern with a form of decoration known as a 'finial'. You will find a choice of finial designs below; as you can see they come in a variety of shapes and sizes from the classic ‘Ball’ to the resplendent ‘Pineapple’. Depending on your particular property some finials are more appropriate to use than others but fundamentally it’s very much down to personal taste. As a guideline however, we would suggest that adding a finial to a roof lantern on a period property certainly adds to its general attractiveness not to mention giving the lantern a more traditional flavour. On this note, if you’re project is more contemporary in style, it perhaps best not to add any ornamentation at all.
The vital fact about our lovely finials however is their urethane nature. Without getting too technical, urethane is a non-flexible, high-resilient foam. Thus (and just like its aluminium capping counterpart), the finials are hardwearing and highly weather resistant.
