General specification - Urban Collection

Construction - Framework consists of a high tensile aluminium box section (Alloy 6063 T6 to BS 1474 :1987) 40mm wide and provides a complete thermally broken structure. The thermal break comes in the form of a PVCu extension adaptor connected to the main rafter box section.

Roof assembly - Consisting of main sloping rafters, fixed to the ridge via load bearing brackets. Hip rafters are carried directly by a ringbeam. Glazing is secured by a snap on exterior cover cap and pressure plate, providing a continuous pressure seal against the glazing. Rainwater discharge is direct to the perimeter flat roof weathering surface.

Glazing – All double glazing is Kite marked toughened glass which is 5 times stronger than ordinary glass (BS 6206 :1981 with a Class 0 fire rating) . All glazing has continuous spacer bars and are dual sealed (BS 5713 ). Double glazed units rest on a co extruded EPDM gasket and are held into position by a pressure plate and aluminium exterior cover cap.

All roof glazing have a self cleaning coating located on the external pane of the glass. The coating has revolutionay photo-catalytic and hydrophilic properties, and works in two stages:
Stage 1 - The coating reacts with natural daylight to break down and loosen organic dirt.
Stage 2 - When it rains, instead of forming droplets, the water spreads evenly over the surface of the glass, helping to wash away any dirt and reduce streaking.

Glazed units are optimized for thermal insulation during winter months and comprise of two leaves of 4mm clear toughened safety glass, a 16mm Argon gas filled cavity, with a soft-coat low-emissivity heat reflective coating to the cavity face of the inner-leaf. The thermal u-value of all roof glazing units is 1.2.

Finishes – All aluminium is polyester powder coated with 80-100 microns of paint to BS 6496. Anodising is to BS 3987 and finishing is conducted under BS EN 9002 :1994 quality control standards.
