The Beaufort Roof Lantern
Description - The Beaufort roof lantern is great above a dining table or kitchen island to define a particular function within a space. The roof lantern's long ridge is perfect to hang pendant lighting from. Why not consider crowning your roof lantern with a pair of ball finials?
Construction - The principal construction is in engineered Sapele, a hardwood with excellent paint adhesion sourced from sustainable plantations (FSC accredited). Durable qualities such as exceptional rigidity, resistance to indentation, shock loads and bending, together with a natural resistance to wood rot and fungal attack, combine to make it the natural choice in framing roof lanterns. High-performance dual-sealed double-glazing units ensure optimum thermal efficiency, whilst factory finished aluminum rafter and ridge cappings, together with self- cleaning glass ensure low maintenance on the roof exterior.
Roof assembly - delicately moulded rafters and hips span between a profiled roof plate/sill and a generous ridge. Octagonal profile bosses form the abutment of converging ridge, hip and rafter assemblies. The arrangement of the rafters is as shown in the sketches below. The roof pitch is 25 degrees. Rainwater discharge is direct to the perimeter flat roof weathering surface. Conduit channels with flush fitting access covers are incorporated to accommodate concealed electrical cabling. The Beaufort roof lantern features 2no roof plate trickle vents.
Glazing – self cleaning high performance dual-sealed double glazed units comprise two leaves of 4mm clear toughened safety glass, a 16mm Argon gas filled cavity, and include soft-coat low-emissivity heat reflective coating to the cavity face of the inner-leaf. The thermal u-value of the roof glazing units is 1.2.
Finishes – Roof exterior: aluminum rafter, hip and ridge cappings factory finished in CLASSIC WHITE or SLATE GREY. Roof interior: factory finished sapele timber in CLASSIC WHITE.
Internal dimensions of curb upstand: 2205mm x 1115mm on plan.
